Still not loving the story all that much but found myself starting the third volume immediately after I finished this, against my better judgment. For some reason this book seemed a lot shorter, though maybe there were just more action scenes and less talking and set-up so it made it go by quicker.
I've heard from countless people This book was better than the first only because of my favorite titan being revealed. Also, the illustrations are amazing! Martin'i, zalim Hajime Isayama! Story This is the part of the series that really started to suck me in. While Eren can be a bit frustrating at time, I absolutely love Mikasa. She might be my new favorite female character in all of Japanese fiction. We get a lot of depth added to both her and Eren and the nature of their bond in this one.
We're also presented with a new wrinkle to the Titan problem which is left unresolved in the anime and a large part of why I decided I had to start reading the manga itself. Overall I think thi Pet zvezda: 1. The attack is on! Okay that was bad. The titans are attacking. Everyone is dying.
As we know in the final pages of the last volume some major deaths occur. Then there's the new titan who shows up and we get to see some titan on titan action. No, not like sex, but they kill each other. Then we also get to see Mikasa backstory and why she is like she is. Heartbreaking and sad but powerful. Good: Love the art still. Clear and easy to see and read. I think this volume is dreadful but always A significant improvement from the first volume.
World-building is much better and the twist in our understanding of these Titans steers this series towards a much more intriguing direction. Artwork was slightly better this time around, but the scratchy and lazy style still re-surges here and then, far too often. That was incredible! The ending completely blew my mind and the build up was perfect.
Highly, highly recommend this series! My love for the characters especially the totally kick butt Mikasa Ackerman , story, concept, and art, which is improving, has only increased with reading this.

I mean it is good that he wants to save Mikasa, but it is scary how he stabbed men with lots of anger. Now Eren became an interesting character for me. And now I know backstory of Mikasa and understand her love for Eren, for her savior. Quite strong girl she is.
